"THE INNER CIRCLE"

THE INNER CIRCLE

THE INNER CIRCLE, a dark, gritty drama set in Detroit, Michigan, centers on the lives of rehab patients in a 28 day, in-patient addiction recovery program. The Brentwood Center for Recovery (BCR) is a privately owned, government funded rehabilitation facility and the brainchild of Founder and Chief Psychiatrist, Dr. Ben Taylor. As a labor of love, Dr. Ben, a 43- year-old African-American, renovated a brownstone, opened the doors five years ago and has made it his life’s mission to aid in addiction recovery.
THE INNER CIRCLE takes us into the core of addiction and how it affects not just those suffering from it, but the people who love them, as well. Each day of the 28 day program brings us deeper into each of the group members lives, and them closer to understanding the pain and circumstances that lead them to ‘rock bottom’. Through intense group therapy, people from different races, religions, socio-economic backgrounds and multiple generations will bond over the one thing they have in common, addiction.
THE INNER CIRCLE does not just symbolize the patients in group therapy, but also the ‘inner circle’ of deep, debilitating pain that addicts cover up with layers of denial, lies, self-loathing and ultimately a crutch—drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, food. Often resulting in compulsive behaviors, which the patient can no longer control.
