It is rare in Hollywood that you find an actor who has built up an impressive body of work in theater, film and television. Shiek Mahmud-Bey is one of Tinsel Town’s most talented actors who continues to evolve in the entertainment industry. In addition, to his work in front of the camera and on stage, Mahmud-Bey is active in a number of independent projects, which he has co-written, acted in and produced. He is the founder of 4140 Acting Company in Burbank, California, ShiekStudio acting school, the CEO/President of 25th Frame Films Production Company and The Collaborations Group.
During his career, Mahmud-Bey has received rave reviews for his work in the theater. He is scheduled in late 2014 to reprise his role as Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, an African American middleweight boxer who was wrongly accused of murder. In “The Way Out.” This two-man show examines Carter’s 22 years of wrongful incarceration in heartbreaking detail. His performances in “The Way Out” and “Acts of Contrition”, performed back to back, received critical acclaim and earned Mahmud-Bey a "Best Performance Award" in the International Fringe Festivals.
His other theatrical performances include “’The Big Trees,” “Over the Edge,” “Mind Body and Soul,” “The Bull Ring,” “My Africa,” “Family Linen,” “Black, No Sugar,” and “Julius Caesar in Africa.”
Mahmud-Bey has appeared on the silver screen opposite some of Hollywood’s big est movie stars including Robert DeNiro, Nicolas Cage, Andy Garcia, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix, to name a few. Mahmud-Bey’s film credits include “Buffalo Soldier,” “Flawless,” “Night Falls On Manhattan,” “Kiss of Death,” “See No Evil, Hear No Evil,” “Small Vices,” “The Bonfire of the Vanities,” “Mercy Streets,” and “Joe’s Apartment.”
In addition, to his work in motion pictures, Mahmud-Bey has also worked in television. His television credits include “Profiler,” “Third Watch,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “Spenser: Small Vices,” and “Saving Grace,” to name a few.
He recently completed production of several indie films soon to be released on Red Box and DVD. Films include “Deceptive,” “15 Minutes of Fame,” “Una Calle Salida,” and “Engaging,” which he co-produced and acted in. He is currently submitting the first film project produced by his film company 25th Frame Films to film festivals. “Knuckles” a short movie Shiek co-wrote about a washed up boxer (Shiek) now a trainer and his desperation for the life he never had, forced to live through the success he wants for his son. Shiek is also in the process of shopping to major networks, “The Inner Circle” a Television pilot that he co-created, co- wrote, co-produced and directed. The "The Inner Circle" is the second project from 25th Frame Films. "The Inner Circle" is about a psychiatrist challenged by his own world of psychology. Shiek is currently in pre-production of “Rock Tick Flow, Tone of a Bboy" another television project co- created by Shiek and his friend Jameel ‘’West” Coleman. Early 2015 Shiek is scheduled to begin pre-production for the feature film “Min 14”, a mystery thriller he's been working on since 2013. Shiek Mahmud-Bey in conjunction with 25th Frame Films has a repertoire of many more exciting projects scheduled for production.
